sporting kc {part 1}

We travelled to Kansas City on Saturday to hang out with our friends, the Sommers, and go to a Sporting KC soccer game together. We had a great time!!

(all the pics were taken with my iPhone... sorry some are blurry!)

 We tailgated before the game. It was crazy that it was June and we were COLD! It was cool and windy and there were even a few sprinkles of rain...

brett & claire {wichita shower}

We enjoyed a family-filled weekend celebrating Brett and Claire! (It was also a busy weekend that included soccer games, a piano recital, family dinners, a going-away party... just to name a few things!)

Later that night, Mom and Dad hosted everyone for dinner and invited the Brookses and Nobles to join us as well. It was a lovely dinner and time of talking and catching up!

school's out for the SUMMER!

Grayson's last day of school was Thursday and Carter's last day was Tuesday. They both had a fun week celebrating with ice cream parties, roller skating, field trips, and memory books.

 

But, it was also bittersweet. Both boys have been blessed beyond what we could have hoped for with their teachers. Mrs. Tinius and Mrs. Winger in Carter's class, and Mrs. Thurman in Grayson's class, were amazing. They were creative, loving, encouraging, patient... the list could go on and on. We hate to see them go!! :)

take me out to the ballgame

Recently, we had the opportunity to go watch our Kansas Jayhawks play the Wichita State Shockers in baseball. It was a beautiful spring night! And the 'Hawks WON!! Rock Chalk!!

 there were a fair amount of KU fans present... and the paper said that they had a record attendance for the year of 4,000+ people

KU cleared the bench several times in the 5th inning with runs being scored -- go Jayhawks!

mother's day {2013}

we enjoyed a nice, relaxing mother's day yesterday... first with church, then lunch at aunt laura's, a gorgeous afternoon spent outside, and then dinner with mom and dad. a great day!

i am so truly blessed to be a mom and incredibly thankful for my own mom who has and still does teach me so much!

Last weekend, I joined Mom, Dad, and Aunt Laura for a weekend in Kansas City celebrating Brett and Claire. There was a ladies' shower and a couples' shower in honor of their upcoming wedding! Thanks to Mom, I have a few pictures to share. :)

one frigid field day

Grayson had his (rescheduled) Field Day today at school. It was supposed to be last week, but our spring has been ridiculously crazy. It snowed last week -- the first week in May. No joke.

So, today was the big day! My iPhone's weather app predicted 73 degrees and sunny, and at 11am when we arrived, it was overcast and 49. Brrrr.

But, that didn't stop the kids from having a great time! And -- don't they say that pics taken when it's cloudy turn out even better?!?

 Grayson was on the "red" team of 2nd graders -- hence the red bandanna

 he completed the 50 yard dash in 8.7 seconds!
