the jayhawks win {again!!}

It's hard to believe, but it's true! Our beloved 'Hawks pulled off a win against Louisiana Tech on a gorgeous September afternoon in Lawrence.
We left Wichita at 7:30am to get to KU bright and early!!
Loved running into Big Jay in the parking lot...
...and then we watched him walk across the Hill.
in front of the HUGE Super Jay!

the boys loved playing all of the inflatable games on the practice field

There's the head coach -- Charlie Weis!

the boys wanted to get their faces painted... and they looked so cool!!
Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
Two wins -- oh yeah!

rock chalk football

Last Saturday was a jam-packed day! First, Jerry ran 15 miles (yes, 15!!) early that morning. Then, both Grayson and Carter had soccer games and both scored goals. Woo-hoo! After Grayson's game, we drove up to Lawrence for KU's very first football game of the year. When we stepped out of the car, the thermometer read 100 degrees... but we didn't let the scorching heat stop us!
Our first stop was all the bounce-house fun on the practice turf...
As we walked up to the stadium, Grayson spotted Big Jay. The boys went RUNNING up to him, calling his name. He stopped for a quick picture. Gotta love that Jayhawk!
Then he headed onto the field to cheer the players on!
Three of my favorite boys at the game :)
There was an awesome flyover after the National Anthem was sung... the planes shot red, white, and blue smoke out as they flew over... it was amazing!
It never did cool off, but it was a great game! The 'Hawks looked pretty good!

During the 3rd quarter, we spotted Baby Jay on the field, walking over towards our section. The boys sprinted down the steps to say hi! I snapped this quick pic with my phone.
Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
We were thankful for a 31-14 WIN!!

dead squirrels

Kind of a random name of a blog post, huh?
AL told Grayson about a dead squirrel that was on a sidewalk near her house, and Grayson thought it would be disgusting neat to pick it up and carry it around. He also brought his BB gun... just in case. Ewww... is all I have to say about this.

Here's Grayson talking about the squirrel...
(Don't worry -- he is wearing thick gloves and I made him wash his hands twice after the whole ordeal!)

carter's hat trick

Carter played in his first-ever soccer game last weekend and had a ball. Literally! :)
Jerry and another dad on the team are both coaching, and Carter has been so excited to get started.
Their Pre-K league has all the kids do a 30 minute practice before the game, and then they finish with a 30 minute game. It works perfectly for all these 4-5 year olds.
Carter got the hang of it fairly quickly and went on a scoring spree. I was able to get two of his goals on video:
Can't wait to watch his next game!
