The boys and I invited Nana to join us for a quick trip to Kansas City. (Jerry had to work, and the boys were out of school the entire week of Thanksgiving...) I scored a great deal to Great Wolf Lodge, and we could start swimming at 1pm on Monday. But, we decided to have a fun lunch before hanging out with the Wolf... so, we headed to the T-Rex Café!

carter's thanksgiving feast

Carter's preschool class had a fun party and feast last Friday. I was called off work that day, so Nana and I joined Carter and all his pre-K classmates for a fun time!

 I told Carter that I loved his face paint. He quickly replied, "It's not face paint, Mom. It's washable marker."

He told me!

 One of the moms made the cutest rice krispie treat turkeys... I had to take a pic!

It's been 3 years, over 1,000 days, and way too long since KU's football team has had a conference win. It's actually straight-out embarrassing! But, we still have had hope... and today we brought along a good luck charm -- Uncle Dave!

 KU did win!! Woo-hoo! They beat West Virginia and the students stormed the field. Awesome!

 All of a sudden we looked up and the students had taken down the goal posts. Awesome! So we headed over to get a pic with what remained...

It's tradition to throw the goal posts in Potter's Lake and they did! We drove by later and some kids were seeing if they could pull them out. :)

homegrown gourds

Nana and the boys have been tending to their garden of gourds (in Nana's backyard) for several months now. They've been watching as the gourds have grown and grown, and are amazed at how the plants have spread throughout the flower beds. We were due for a hard freeze this week, so it was decided that the gourds needed to be harvested. The largest gourd weighed in at a whopping 24 pounds. Amazing!!

 A funny Carter story...

Lately, as I've noticed Carter's clothes being too small or too short, I'll comment that he is growing and getting bigger. More than once he has replied, "I'm just growing big like a gourd in Nana's garden."

ku roundball lunch

Grayson and I were super excited to attend Wichita's Roundball Luncheon today at the Marriott. Dad and Mom hosted a table, and we were thrilled to be guests! We enjoyed the lunch and then listened to Coach Bonnie Hendrickson and Coach Bill Self talk about this year's basketball teams. They then opened it up for questions. And, afterward, we had to get a pic with Coach Self -- he's seriously like royalty in Kansas. :)

 Grayson wasn't too fond of the salad, so he ate his dessert first. Why not?!?

wreath-making afternoon

Mom, AL, and I attended a fun wreath seminar last Sunday afternoon at Johnson's. We all had a great time and learned how to make festive puffy wreaths. We were able to choose our own themes... Mom did a Christmas one with bright green, red, and polka dots. AL chose colors to match her home with turquoise, lime green, and eggplant. I did a chocolate brown wreath, with cream/gold striped ribbon, and leopard accents. They were all so different and pretty! :)

We had a fun Halloween celebration...

the weather was gorgeous and it was the perfect night to be out trick-or-treating!

Aunt Laura and Norman joined the boys, Nana, and myself out in the neighborhood, while Jerry and Gramps handed out candy at our house.

Nana helped the boys make Halloween luminarias by using mod-podge and tissue paper over glass jars... they looked so festive!
