grayson's 2nd swim meet

Last weekend, Grayson swam in his 2nd swim meet of the season. He mixed it up a bit, swimming in a 25 meter butterfly and ending the meet with his 50 breaststroke. He also swam in two relays! It was a busy morning!!
waiting to swim in the medley relay
 Go Grayson!!

 look at those butterfly arms!
he won his heat!
Here's Grayson's 50 meter breaststroke -- and he wins! :)

diamond rio live!!

On Saturday night, we went to see Diamond Rio live! Jerry and I decided that it really aged us... I think they were cool when I was in high school... and my 20 year HS reunion is next week. Ha!!
Anyway, it was a fun outdoor concert in a park, and there were literally thousands of people there.
Mom and Dad joined us for the fun
Did I mention that the high on Saturday was 97?? We were pretty HOT...
getting some Rita's Italian Ice helped cool us all off before the concert :)
there was a drone flying overhead taking photographs -- the boys thought it was so cool!
Grayson and Carter (and Gramps!) caught frisbees that they threw off the stage
 Diamond Rio!!
the night ended with beautiful fireworks!
Two shorts clips of Diamond Rio -- it will take you back to the 90s, I promise!! :)

grayson's first swim meet {2015}

Here are a few pics and a video from Grayson's first swim meet of the season! He swam in one relay, and then competed in the 50 Free, 50 Back, and 50 Breast.
Grayson's events for the day... written in Sharpie on his arm... swim team style ;)
he's in the middle (yellow swim cap) and in the lead!!
headed home with the 50 Free -- in the middle lane again
Grayson won his heat in the 50 backstroke! Woohoo!!
And a super weird smile to go with it... :)
Here is Grayson finishing first in the backstroke -- look for the bright yellow swim cap! You can also hear Carter in the background saying, "He won! He won! He won!"

carter's first-ever hit!!

Carter played in his first-ever baseball game and went 3 for 3!! As he said at lunch today, "All my balls went to the outfield!" :)
Haha... yes, they most certainly did!
Yay Carter! We are so proud of you!!

it's an epidemic...

"Snakes. Snakes. I don't know no Snakes!"
-Marv, the robber, on Home Alone

Let me tell you, we have gotten to know WAY TOO MANY snakes over the past few days at our house. Eeeek!! It all started on Wednesday night. Jerry thought someone was playing a trick on us, when he spotted what he thought was a large rubber snake in our front flower bed. Ummm, no. It was a huge LIVE black rat snake. Jerry and our neighbor, Brett, killed it. It was gross. And did I mention about 4 feet long?!?

Grayson and Will with the now dead (whew!!) snake on Wednesday night
On Thursday morning, we headed out on a walk. Grayson put the deceased snake's head on our mailbox... look closely, it's nasty!
When we got home from our walk, our dogs were going bananas in the back yard. You guessed it -- they had found another snake. I got our neighbor Larry and Grayson grabbed his BB gun. Larry trapped the snake with a shovel and Grayson shot it in the head.

The rat snakes are black on top and checkerboard yellow/brown on the bottom... and they are so big. Good ol' Zoe was pretty twitched in the background, but we are soooo glad that she and Molly alerted us to this nasty snake.
That evening, after Carter's baseball game, Jerry ran over ANOTHER snake that was slithering across the street at the entrance to our neighborhood. And then yesterday, we spotted a rattlesnake about 25 feet from our neighborhood pool.
I am so over snakes...

carter pulls his own tooth!

Carter is in quite the stage right now... dangerously teetering between being an emotional little kid versus a mature 1st grader. We can't quite figure him out! ;) Anyway, he discovered that he had a loose tooth the other day, and was adamant that he would pull it himself. So he did!
(Listen for the "pop" at the end...)

best buddies

Carter, and his good buddy, Paul, love hanging out. They play so well together. Playing with Paul is usually one of the highlights of Carter's week. We have loved our lunch and playdates with Miss Kirsten and Paul!

Love these two!! :)
