"Snakes. Snakes. I don't know no Snakes!"
-Marv, the robber, on Home Alone
Let me tell you, we have gotten to know WAY TOO MANY snakes over the past few days at our house. Eeeek!! It all started on Wednesday night. Jerry thought someone was playing a trick on us, when he spotted what he thought was a large rubber snake in our front flower bed. Ummm, no. It was a huge LIVE black rat snake. Jerry and our neighbor, Brett, killed it. It was gross. And did I mention about 4 feet long?!?
Grayson and Will with the now dead (whew!!) snake on Wednesday night
On Thursday morning, we headed out on a walk. Grayson put the deceased snake's head on our mailbox... look closely, it's nasty!
When we got home from our walk, our dogs were going bananas in the back yard. You guessed it -- they had found another snake. I got our neighbor Larry and Grayson grabbed his BB gun. Larry trapped the snake with a shovel and Grayson shot it in the head.
The rat snakes are black on top and checkerboard yellow/brown on the bottom... and they are so big. Good ol' Zoe was pretty twitched in the background, but we are soooo glad that she and Molly alerted us to this nasty snake.
That evening, after Carter's baseball game, Jerry ran over ANOTHER snake that was slithering across the street at the entrance to our neighborhood. And then yesterday, we spotted a rattlesnake about 25 feet from our neighborhood pool.
I am so over snakes...
